In 2005, John Genho founded Livestock Genetics and began by running a genetic evaluation for a single client. Over the last 12 years, Livestock Genetics has assisted breeders throughout the world with genetic analysis, breed program design, and databases. They now manage more than 6 million animals within their databases, millions of rows of genotype data, and customers located across the globe.


Mission

Provide breeders with efficient and methodical tools that enable them to improve their animals as well as streamline the tracking and evaluation of herd genetic data.


John Genho

Founder and Head Geneticist

John Genho, founder and geneticist at Livestock Genetics, grew up on commercial cattle ranches in Florida and Texas where he developed an interest in genetic improvement in beef cattle. He studied at Brigham Young University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. He went on to procure his Masters of Science in Animal Breeding and Genetics from Cornell University as well as a Masters in Business Administration from Duke University.

John has a lifetime of experience working and managing in the beef industry and continues active involvement in the management of Eldon Farms in Woodville, VA.
